Stefan Johnde Pous
Trust the voice beneath the noise, and clarity follows. Poetry, books, Jungian depth work and the Gene Keys, all turning around one centre.
A wounded healer, still on the way
I'm Stefan. I am clairsentient and claircognizant: I feel what moves in people and in a room, and I often know things before I can explain how I know them.
I also live with bipolar disorder. When I was nineteen I went through a psychosis. It broke my world open, and it left me with one burning question: why did this happen to me?
That question became my quest. I studied Carl Jung, alchemy, psychology and transactional analysis. I went into depth-psychological therapy myself. Slowly I began to uncover the patterns that had been running my life: the complexes, the unconscious scripts, the things handed down to me through the generations. Life itself, with its blows and its grace, taught me the rest.
What I found is simple to say and takes a lifetime to practise. We need self-knowledge. We need to notice when we are projecting, to look at what triggers us and what that tells us about our shadow, and to watch how we relate and respond to other people. That is shadow work, and it changes everything.
I am still learning, and I can only guide others as far as I have travelled myself. But where I can, I would like to walk alongside you: to help you understand yourself within a Jungian framework, and perhaps find some peace of mind along the way.
My Golden Path
The Gene Keys are a contemplative path created by Richard Rudd, built on the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching. Each key holds a Shadow, a Gift and a Siddhi: the same energy at three levels of awareness.
My Life's Work sits in Gene Key 57, from Unease to Intuition to Clarity. My Purpose sits in Gene Key 61, from Psychosis to Inspiration to Sanctity. Looking back at my own story, I find that second line hard to read without being moved.
This is a part of the site I will keep building on, with contemplations on each of my keys and what they have taught me.

The torus, the shape consciousness takes
A torus is a field that feeds itself. Energy rises through a central axis, flows out over the surface and returns through the same centre, endlessly. You find the pattern in an apple, a smoke ring, the magnetic field of the Earth, and the way the heart's field is often pictured.
I use it as a map for inner life. What we send out returns to us through the centre. A Shadow avoided keeps circling. A Gift lived keeps renewing itself, and in that flow the self becomes both still point and movement.
The still point
The empty centre where everything passes through. In practice: silence, breath, the moment before an intuition speaks.
The outflow
Expression: the poem written, the decision taken, the step away from the status quo that intuition asks for.
The return
Integration. Experience folds back into the centre and becomes wisdom, so the next turn begins from a deeper place.

Carl Jung and the descent inward
Jung saw the psyche as a living landscape with depths we rarely visit. His map pairs naturally with the Gene Keys: the Shadow he describes is the same raw material the Gene Keys ask us to transform.
Persona
het maskerThe face we show the world. Useful, and never the whole of us. A brand built honestly lets the persona carry the soul instead of hiding it.
Shadow
de schaduwEverything we refuse to see in ourselves. Met with compassion, it gives back the energy it has been holding.
Anima & Animus
de innerlijke anderThe contrasexual image within, guide to the unconscious and source of our deepest projections in love.
Archetypes
oerbeeldenPatterns of the collective unconscious: the Hero, the Mother, the Trickster, the Wise Old Man, alive in myths and in our dreams.
Individuation
heelwordingThe lifelong process of becoming who you are. Not perfection, but wholeness, with the Self as centre.
Active imagination
actieve verbeeldingA dialogue with inner images while awake. Many of my poems begin here.
“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”C.G. Jung, letter to Fanny Bowditch, 1916
Alchemy, the art of inner gold
The old alchemists worked on lead and mercury, yet the text kept speaking of the soul. Jung recognised their stages as the stages of individuation. The Magnum Opus has four colours.
Nigredo
the blackeningDissolution and the dark night. Old forms break down. In Gene Keys terms, meeting the Shadow fully.
Albedo
the whiteningWashing and clarity. The soul is purified and reflects light like the moon. The Gift begins to shine.
Citrinitas
the yellowingDawn of the inner sun. Reflected light becomes one's own light, and wisdom becomes lived.
Rubedo
the reddeningThe union of opposites, the philosopher's stone. Spirit lives in matter. Here the Siddhi is remembered.
Solve et coagula: dissolve and bind again. The same rhythm as the torus, outward and back to the centre.
Asking the oracle
Jung called it synchronicity: a meaningful coincidence between the inner world and the outer one. An oracle does not predict a fixed future. It holds up a mirror, so the unconscious can speak in images. I work with two of the oldest and richest.
The I Ching
Three thousand years of Chinese wisdom in 64 hexagrams, each built from six broken or unbroken lines. You cast coins or yarrow stalks, and the changing lines show how a situation is moving. I read it in Richard Wilhelm's translation, the edition Jung wrote his famous foreword for.
Shown here: Hexagram 61, Inner Truth. It is also the source of Gene Key 61, my Purpose.
The Thoth Tarot
Aleister Crowley's deck, painted by Lady Frieda Harris and explained in The Book of Thoth. Its 78 cards weave together the Qabalah, astrology and alchemy, which makes it a map of the psyche as much as an oracle.
Shown here: Atu XIV, Art. Crowley's name for Temperance, and the most alchemical card in the deck.
A reading can be part of a coaching session, as a way into what wants to be seen.
